Nexterra (www.nexterra.ca) is a biomass gasification company based in Vancouver Canada. Our first commercial facility at Tolko Industries’ Heffley Creek plywood plant has been operational since May 2006. It produces 38 MMBtu/hr of net usable heat for their veneer dryers and log conditioning vats. Johnson Controls is installing our technology at the University of South Carolina. The system will produce 60,000 lb/hr of high pressure steam and 1.4 MWe of electricity.

Nexterra is also working on its advanced gasification applications. At our product development centre we are finalizing development of our direct firing applications. With direct firing we will be able to fire syngas directly into an existing boiler, or a lime kiln. We are also working with major engine OEMs to fire syngas into reciprocating engines.
