A training workshop of MOST The Ministry of Science and Technology The People’s Republic of China

INTROUDUCTION
The Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) is a governmental agency that is responsible for the foundation and implementation of national science and technology R&D plans. One of its important missions is to strengthen international cooperation in science and technology with other countries, especially with developing countries. Since 1989, international technical training workshop/courses on various subjects have been conducted in China every year under the auspices of MOST as a part of its international scientific and technical cooperation programs.
The Workshop on Technology and Utilization of Biomass Gasification, sponsored by Department of International Cooperation of MOST, organized by, Liaoning Institute of energy Resources (LIER), will be held in Yingkou, China in 2009.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION
1. Objectives
The objectives of the workshop are as follows:
1) To introduce methods and experiences for the exploitation utilization of Biomass gasification and;
2) To exchange technology and experiences in the field of biomass gasification technology;
3) To promote the cooperation on introducing appropriate technology, technology transfer, new product development;
4) To promote the cooperation in joint research projects as well as education and training of biomass gasification technology.

    Within the duration, the first three days and the last three days are respectively for registration and for seeing off.

    Liaoning Institute of Energy Resources, No. 88 Shifu Road, Yingkou (N 39°6'to 40°56',E 121°56'to 123°2'), Liaoning Province, China
  3. Weather
    It is usually fine in September in Liaoning Province with the temperature ranging from 10 to 20℃

Part 1. Lectures
1. Development and Status of Biomass Energy Technology
2. Biomass Gasification Technology
3. Biomass Gasification Equipment
4. Biomass gasification for house cooking system
5. Biomass gasification for power generation system.
Part 2. Practice and visit
1. Visit to Laboratory of biomass gasification for power generation.
2. Visit to some demonstration plants of biomass gasification
3. Sightseeing
Part 3. Discussion and exchange
1. Presentation of papers from participants
2. Exchange of experiences and discussion among participants
Part 4. Summary

QUALIFICATION
Applicants should
1. Have a Bachelor’s Degree and be a specialist or manager in the field of biomass energy
2. Have a minimum of 3 years’ working experience
3. Be capable of speaking and writing in English
4. Be in good health

APPLICATION
1. Applicants should complete the enrolled Application Form with signature and return back to the organizer before July 15,2009.
2. The second circular will be sent to the participants with a formal invitation and tentative schedule of the workshop.
3. Submit the Status report on biomass gasification technology development in participants’ countries (Required)
4. Submit a paper to be presented in the workshop.
5. Submit a health certificate.

CALL FOR PAPERS OR COOPERATION PROJECTS
Any participants are expected to present a paper in the following categories:
-Biomass gasification in fixed bed gasifier;
-Biomass gasification in fluidized bed gasifier;
- Biomass gasification for comprehensive utilization
Any participants are expected to bring some technical transfer or information needs from enterprises of their countries or at least intention of cooperation through the interchange of the projects.

EXPENSES
1. Travel expenses will be borne by the participants themselves (round-trip tickets between his/her home country and Shenyang Airport or Shenyang Railway Station of China, Pick-up arrangement will only be available at Shenyang Airport or Shenyang Railway Station of China.
2. Registration fee is not necessary
3. Chinese government will cover the expenditure of accommodation, local transportation and training expenses during the workshop in China for the participants from developing countries. However, participants are advised to have some money for personal purpose such as distance call or daily necessities and soon.

CERTIFICATE
Participants who have completed study successfully in the training workshop will be awarded a certificate issued by the Department of International Cooperation of MOST of China.

NOTICE
1. The health certificate must be valid, provided by authorized physician or hospital.
2. The deadline for the Application Form will be July 15,2009.
3. The participants should bear his/her medical fee by himself/herself during the workshop.
